Reconnection of ABS ECM Connector

Damage to the connector pins may resu lt if an attempt
to fit the con nectors incorrectly is made.

Fit t h e con nector into its socket a nd, whilst holding
the connector in place, push down gently o n the
locking device until it locks.

Further Diagnosis

The tables that follow will, if used correctly, help to
pinpoint a fa ult in the system once a diagnostic trouble
code has been stored.
Pinpoint Tests
Before starting pinpoint tests
1 .
Delete t h e stored DTCs.
2.
Switch the ignition O F F and O N .
I f the A B S is n o t functioning, t h e brake system will
continue to fu nction as a non-AB S bra kin g system . Do
not continue to ride for longer than is necessary with the
indicator light i l l u m i nated. Ride with extreme caution
when performing diag nostic troubleshooting o n a non­
functioning ABS system. I n this situation bra king too
hard will cause the wheels to lock resu lting in loss of
motorcycle control and a n accident.

Ride t h e motorcycle at a road speed in
Km/h. If the DTC is repeated proceed t o the releva nt
pinpoint test.

If the DTC is not repeated this indicates the DTC may
have been stored due to external influences such as
bad road su rfaces or electrical interference.
After completion of the pinpoint tests
1 .
Delete t h e stored DTCs.
2 .
Switch t h e ignition O F F and O N .
3 .
Ride the motorcycle at a road speed in excess o f 3 0
Km/h. If the DTC i s repeated proceed to the releva nt
pinpoint test.
4 .
I f a DTC is stored there is a fu rther fault. Read the
stored DTC and refer to the relevant _p i n po i nt test.
