Engine Oil

Specification

Use semi or fully synthetic lOW/40 or lSW/5 0 motorcycle
engine oil which meets specification API SH (or higher)
and JASO MA, such as Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T, sold as
Castrol Power RS Racing 4T in some countries.
Triumph high performance fuel injected engines are
designed to use semi or fully synthetic motorcycle
engine oil which meets specification API SH <or higher>
AN D JASO MA.
Do not add any chemical additives to the engine oil. The
engine oil also lubricates the clutch and any additives
could cause the clutch to slip.
Do not use mineral, vegetable, non-detergent oil, castor
based oils or any oil not conforming to the required
specification. The use of these oils may cause instant,
severe engine damage.
Ensure no foreign matter enters the crankcase during an
oil change or top-up.

standards. Triumph Motorcycles are keen to ensure that
you enjoy optimum performance from your machine and
with this objective in mind have tested many of the
engine l ubricants currently available to the limits of their
performance.

Oil Level Inspection

In order for the engine, transmission, and clutch to
function correctly, maintain the engine oil at the correct
level, and change the oil and oil filter in accordance with
schedu led maintenance requirements.
Never start the engine or run the engine in a confined
area. Exhaust fumes are poisonous and can cause loss of
consciousness and death within a short period of time.
Always operate you r motorcycle in the open-air or in an
a rea with adequate ventilation.
Motorcycle operation with insufficient, deteriorated, or
contaminated engine oil will cause accelerated engine
wear and may result in engine or transmission seizure.
Seizure of the engine or tra nsmission may lead to loss of
motorcycle control and an accident.
Running the engine with insufficient oil will cause engine
damage. If the low oil pressure indicator remains on,
stop the engine immediately and investigate the cause.

Start the engine a n d r u n a t idle for approximately
five minutes.

Stop the engine, then wait for at least three minutes
to allow the oil to settle.

Note the oil level visible in the sight glass.
