Disconnect the ECM 33P (Gray) connector (page 4-35).
CB650F/FA:
Remove the combination meter (page 21-10) to
disconnect
connector [1].
Connect the following connectors (page 2-6):
Support the
headlight stay
– Immobilizer receiver 4P (Black)
assembly securely
– Ignition switch 2P (Brown)
to avoid damaging
– Front sub harness 12P (Black)
the wire harness.
– Front sub harness 4P (Black)
– Front sub harness 2P (Brown)
1. Serial
Inspection
Check for continuity between the wire harness side
16P (Gray) connector [1] terminal and ground.
CONNECTION: White – Ground
Is there continuity?
YES
NO
2. Serial
Inspection
Check for continuity between the wire harness side
16P (Gray) connector [1] and ECM 33P (Gray)
connector [2] terminals.
TOOL:
Test probe
CONNECTION: White – White
Is there continuity?
YES
NO
the combination meter
Communication Line
– Short circuit in the White wire between the
combination meter and ECM
– GO TO STEP 2.
Communication Line

– Loose or poor contact on the related
connectors.
– Open circuit in the White wire between the
combination meter and ECM
