8.3.12 DUPLEX UNIT ERROR
SERVICE CENTER CALL RESPONSE
Set incorrectly.
The duplex unit is not set, or it is not set correctly.
(1) Make sure the following items are set correctly.
1-1 Duplex unit cover (J001)
1-2 Duplex unit (J003)

Paper size error.
A paper size other than the one specified for the print job is
loaded.
(1) Check the size of the paper selected for the print job.
(2) Make sure that the size of the paper selected for the print job
matches the size of the paper loaded in the tray.
(3) Check the "Printer Properties" window and determine
whether "Do not print after paper size error." is selected.
(4) Make sure that the paper tray is set correctly.
(5) Determine whether the paper has double-fed and failed to
eject from the printer.
8.3.14 CANNOT COMMUNICATE
SERVICE CENTER CALL RESPONSE
Power on error.
Switch the printer off and on. If machine fails to start, printer
requires servicing.
(1) Check the power cord and make sure that it is attached
correctly.
(2) Switch the printer off, and then switch it on again. When you
switch the printer on, hold down the [Power] key for at least 1
sec.
(3) Disconnect the power cord from the power supply, wait at
least 2 sec., reconnect the power cord, and then switch the
printer on.

PROBABLE CAUSE
1 The duplex cover is open, or duplex unit is not installed
correctly.
2 Damaged.
1 The duplex unit cover is not closed (J001).
2 The duplex unit cover is not set correctly (J003).
PROBABLE CAUSE
1 Print job setting incorrect
2 Paper that does not meet specifications was used.
3 Print setting miss.
4 Paper loaded incorrectly.
5 Paper double-feed, slipping.
The size of the paper selected for the print job does not match
the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray.
Paper sizes are not the same.
Error caused by printer setting.
Tray is set incorrectly.
1 Double-feed.
2 Paper slippage.
PROBABLE CAUSE
1 Power cord not connected.
2 Power switch was not held down long enough.
3 The SU output breaker switch opened.
4 Power surge occurred. Power drop occurred.
5 Damaged.
Power cord not connected.
[Power] key not depressed long enough.
PSU safety circuit breaker opened.

OPERATOR ACTION
1 The duplex unit cover is not closed (J001).
2 The duplex unit is not set correctly (J003).
OPERATOR ACTION
Check the paper size.
Check the size of the paper loaded in the tray.
Open the "Printer Properties" window, check the initial
settings, and make sure that "Do not print after paper size
error." is not selected.
Reset the tray.
1 Determine whether the paper has double-fed.
2 After checking the paper, press the [Paper Feed] key.
OPERATOR ACTION
Make sure that the power cord is connected correctly.
Press and hold down the [Power] key for at least 1 sec.
Disconnect the power cord from the power supply for at
least 2 sec, reconnect the power cord, and then switch the
printer on again.
