Remote Connect Commands

This chapter describes commands for the Remote Connect feature, which enables Altitude access points
(APs) to be linked to a Summit 300-48 switch for image and configuration download without requiring
a direct wired connection. The Remote Connect feature requires an Advanced Edge license.
Remote Connect is accomplished by way of virtual port assignments on the Summit 300-48 switch. In
addition to the 48 physical ports on the switch (1:1-1:48), the Summit 300-48 has 48 virtual ports
(virtual:1-virtual:48) that can be accessed over any physical port connection.
Parameters that are configurable on a physical wireless port are also configurable on all virtual ports.
The only exception is the
configured. On a virtual port, the IP address is not configurable, because a remote A300 assigned to a
virtual port is required to obtain an IP address from the DHCP Server.
Virtual port numbers can range from 1 to 48; however, a maximum of 24 virtual ports can be configured
at one time on a Summit 300-48 switch. Virtual ports are accommodated in the ExtremeWare CLI using
the following convention for the <port> variable, where n is the port number:
