By using copy groups in a 2DC configuration, backups of a large amount of data across multiple
volumes can be acquired remotely without interrupting operation. This allows data to be restored
even if a disaster has affected the primary site.

Creating a Copy Group

The following explains operation procedures based on the copy group operation diagram shown
in
Figure 106 (page
266). The numbers in the following procedure correspond to those in

Creating a Cnt Ac-J Z copy group (starting copy group operation).
Load the copy group definitions of Cnt Ac-J Z and BC Z by using the YKLOAD command, and
make sure that the status is SIMPLEX by using the YKQUERY command. Then make a Cnt Ac-J
Z copy group by using the YKMAKE command.
Wait until the status is DUPLEX, by using the YKEWAIT command.

Suspending a Cnt Ac-J Z copy group.
Put the Cnt Ac-J Z copy group in the suspend status, by using the YKSUSPND command.
Wait until the status is SUSPOP, by using the YKEWAIT command.

Creating an BC Z copy group (acquire a backup at the copy group operation start time).
