Compatible FlashCopy linkage using the Preserve Mirror function when the copy pair is in the
DUPLEX status (Continuous Access Synchronous Z)
As described in
(page
279), if a copy pair in the DUPLEX status is linked with Compatible FlashCopy, the copy pair
changes to the PENDING status during Compatible FlashCopy execution. If an error occurs during
execution, data on the S-VOL of the copy pair cannot be guaranteed. For Cnt Ac-S Z, you can use
the Preserve Mirror function of Compatible FlashCopy, which allows Compatible FlashCopy to be
executed while the Cnt Ac-S Z copy pair is in the DUPLEX status.
In a configuration in which Compatible FlashCopy using the Preserve Mirror function is linked to,
a Cnt Ac-S Z copy pair must be linked to the FlashCopy P-VOL and another Cnt Ac-S Z pair must
be linked to the Compatible FlashCopy S-VOL. Also, Compatible FlashCopy using the Preserve
Mirror function can only be executed when both of the Cnt Ac-S Z copy pairs are in the DUPLEX
status.
Before Compatible FlashCopy execution
During Compatible FlashCopy execution when the Preserve Mirror function is used
When the Preserve Mirror function is used, the Cnt Ac-S Z copy pair remains in the DUPLEX status,
even while Compatible FlashCopy is being executed.
