Wait several minutes and then verify the behavior of the status lights on the LIM
to verify its operational status.
For status light information, see "LIM status lights" on page 3-45, or the module
guide for the LIM you are installing.
Installing and replacing LPMs
Installation and replacement of line protection modules (LPMs) is similar to the
procedure for LIMs, except that the top ejector levers are not protected by ejector
locks.
Openings for unused LPM slots are protected by blank covers. A companion LPM
must be installed for each LIM.
Installing an LPM
To install an LPM:

Put on the antistatic wrist strap, as recommended in "Preventing static discharge
damage" on page 2-2, and connect it to an electrical grounding point.

Remove the blank filler module covering the LPM's slot.

Align the LPM with the card guides and gently slide the LPM into the unit.

Using a number 2 Phillips screwdriver, secure the module into the unit by
tightening the thumbscrews on the LPM.

Connect the cables as described in "Connections to the LPMs" on page 3-38.
Replacing an LPM
Caution
which can result in data loss. Lucent Technologies recommends setting the associated
LIM's administrative status to Down before removing the LPM from the unit. For
instructions on changing a LIM's state to Down and then back to Up, see the Stinger
Administration Guide.
To replace an LPM:

Put on the antistatic wrist strap, as recommended in "Preventing static discharge
damage" on page 2-2, and connect it to an electrical ground.

Carefully unhook the cable ties connecting the cables and connectors from the
card.

Using a number 2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the top and bottom thumbscrews
attaching the module to the unit, as shown in Figure 3-19.
