2. Find the reference code in Table 1. MCM fault reference code to MCM index below to determine the
MCM that is running over temperature. Perform the following verifications, one at a time:
a. Verify that the MCM is installed.
b. Verify that there are no airflow problems with the MCM or its heatsink.
c. Verify that the MCM is installed correctly onto the processor backplane.
After each verification, is the error code that sent you to this procedure still reported?
v No: The problem has been corrected. Go to Verify the repair.
This ends the procedure.
v Yes: Perform the next verification. If all verifications have been performed, call your next level of
support.

1. Press the (green) Start service button. Wait 30 seconds. Press the (white) Service complete button.
Is the error code that sent you to this procedure still reported?
v No: The problem has been corrected. Go to Verify the repair.
This ends the procedure.
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
2. Exchange the Bulk power enclosure (BPE) on the side referenced by the error code that sent you to
this procedure. See the Bulk power enclosure assembly - Models 870 and 890 page for the part
number and a link to the remove and replace procedure.
This ends the procedure.

MASBUS

For use by authorized service providers.
MASBUS: multi-adapter bridge card location.
The multi-adapter bridge detected a problem with a physical card location that it controls. The problem is
either in the bus between the multi-adapter bridge and the card slot, or with the card slot. The card
location may or may not have an installed card.
1. If you are working from the Service Action Log and a card position is listed with this failing component,
then that is where the error is located. Continue with the next step in this procedure. Otherwise, record
MCM

MCM 2 at locations M11
MCM 3 at location M14
