-
Battery charger unit (see symbolic FRU "BATCHGR" on page 285), if installed
- The SPCN frame-to-frame cable
This ends the procedure.
c. For system Models 830, 840, 870, 890, SB2, or SB3, perform the following:
1)
If installed, remove the battery power unit (see the Remove and replace procedures for the
model or FC that you are working on).
2)
Be sure there are no jobs running on the system. Disconnect the mainline ac power cable
or, on systems with dual line cords, disconnect both of the mainline ac power cables. (On the
Models 870 and 890 processor towers, you can use the UEPO to power off when normal
power off procedures fail.)
3)
Exchange the following FRUs in the system unit or frame one at a time (see the Remove
and replace procedures):
– If the system unit or FC 9079, FC 9094 base I/O tower is failing:
-
SPCN card (see symbolic FRU "TWRCARD" on page 470)
-
Control panel (see symbolic FRU "CTLPNL" on page 323)
-
Control panel cable
– If the Model 840, 870, 890, or SB3 processor tower is failing:
- SPCN card (see symbolic FRU "TWRCARD" on page 470)
- Control panel (see symbolic FRU "CTLPNL" on page 323)
- Control panel cable
- Power controller (see symbolic FRU "BPCPWR" on page 287) - Models 870 and 890
only
- Power VS/comm cable - Models 870 and 890 only
– If a secondary frame is failing:
-
The SPCN card (see symbolic FRU "TWRCARD" on page 470) or the battery charger
unit (see symbolic FRU "BATCHGR" on page 285) in the frame that will not power off.
-
The SPCN card (see symbolic FRU "TWRCARD" on page 470) in the frame preceding
the frame that will not power off.
-
The SPCN frame-to-frame cable.
This ends the procedure.

Cannot power on secondary frame or unit (no SRC)

For use by authorized service providers.
You are here because of a secondary frame or unit that cannot become powered on, and may be
displaying a 1xxx-C62E.
Follow the instructions for the model you are working on:
v Models 270, 820, 830, 840, SB2, and SB3 (See page 43)
v Models 800, 810, 825, 870, and 890 (See page 56)
Instructions for Models 270, 820, 830, 840, SB2, and SB3
1. Does the frame that cannot become powered on contain a 3490 or a 3590 tape unit?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Go to the service information for the specific tape unit to analyze the problem.
This ends the procedure.
