b. Disconnect one of the I/O devices (tape, diskette, optical, or disk units) you connected in step 10
(See page 157).
c. Power on the system.
Does a power reference code occur?
v No: Exchange the last I/O device you disconnected in this step. See the Remove and replace
procedures for the model you are working on.
This ends the procedure.
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
12. Have you disconnected all of the I/O devices?
v Yes: Install all parts you removed in this procedure and go to the "Starting point for all problems"
on page 2.
This ends the procedure.
v No: Repeat step 11 (See page 157).
Power PIP5: For use by authorized service providers.
A power supply overcurrent/load fault is occurring. Read the "Power PIPs" on page 152 information for
important safety information before servicing the system.
1. If the system has logical partitions, perform this procedure only from the Primary partition's console
and the system control panel. To determine if the system has logical partitions, go to Determine if the
system has logical partitions, before continuing with this procedure.
2. Perform the following:
a. Disconnect all the I/O devices (tape, diskette, optical, and disk units) from the unit you are
working on by sliding them partially out of the unit see the Remove and replace procedures).
b. Remove and label all cards installed except the processor and memory cards.
c. Reconnect the ac power cable to the unit you are working on.
d. Power on the system.
Does a power reference code occur?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
v No: Go to step 10 (See page 159).
3. Perform the following:
a. Power off the system.
b. Remove from the system one of the air moving devices (AMDs) that was not previously removed
during this procedure. (Disregard an AMD SRC if it occurs during this step.)
c. Power on the system.
Does a power reference code occur?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
v No: The AMD you removed in this step is the failing item.
This ends the procedure.
4. Have you removed all of the AMDs one at a time?
v No: Perform the following:
a. Power off the system.
b. Install the AMD that was removed in step 3 (See page 158) to its original locations.
c. Repeat step 3 (See page 158).
v Yes: Install all of the AMDs and continue with the next step.
5. Perform the following:
a. Power off the system.
