CAPPWR

For use by authorized service providers.
The Capacitor card (CAP) may be the failing item.
1. Is the SRC 1xx1-8468?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: Choose from the following options:
– If fewer than 3 DCAs are installed:
- If no capacitor card is installed in CAP 1 (M33) or CAP 2 (M37) location, install a card in CAP
1 location.
- If a capacitor card is present in either CAP 1 or CAP 2 location, reseat it. If the problem is not
fixed, replace it.
– If 3 or more DCAs are installed:
- If no capacitor card is installed in CAP 1 location, one is required.
- If a capacitor card is installed in either CAP 1 location, reseat it. If the problem is not fixed,
replace it.
2. For SRC 1xx1-8469:
v If no capacitor card is installed in CAP 2 (M37) location, install one. It is required.
v If a capacitor card is installed in CAP 2 location, reseat it. If the problem is not fixed, replace it.
v See Type, model, and part number list for the part number.
Note: Before replacing any field replaceable units (FRUs), verify that the card is seated correctly.

A power cable may be the failing item.
When there is a location and part number displayed on the Control Panel of a system or expansion tower,
then you are to replace that FRU first.
Perform the following to determine the part number of the failing part.
1. Is the SRC 1xxx 2201 or 2301?
v No: Continue with the next step.
v Yes: The failing item is a power cable. Exchange the following parts one at a time.
– Base backplane power cable:
- PWR3A if installed - part 44H7809
- PWR3B if installed - part 44H7825
– Tape/Optical/Disk Unit power cable:
