IGNITION SYSTEM
IGNITION TIMING
NOTE:
Read the instructions for timing light operation.
Start the engine and warm it up to operating tem-
perature.
Stop the engine and remove the timing hole
cap.
Connect the timing light to the spark plug wire.
Start the engine, let it idle and check the ignition
timing.
The ignition tim ing is correct if the "F" mark on the
flywheel aligns with the index mark on the left
crankcase cover at idle.
Coat a new O-ring with grease and install it onto
the timing hole cap.
Apply grease the timing hole cap threads.
Install and tighten the timing hole cap.
TORQUE: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7Ibf·ft)
THROTTLE SENSOR

Remove the fuel tank without disconnecting the
fuel and vacuum tubes from the fuel valve (page 2-
4).
OPERATION INSPECTION
Disconnect the throttle sensor 3P connector.
Start the engine.
Connect the throttle sensor connector when the
engine speed is 3,500 min-
1
(rpm) or above (throttle
angle is 4-12°).
The engine speed should increase.
SYSTEM INSPECTION
Disconnect the ignition control module (lCM) con-
nector (17-5).
Measure the resistance between the yellow/black
and green/black wire terminals of the wire harness
side connector.
STANDARD: 4-6 kQ (68 °F/20 °C)
