ENGINE OIL FILTER
NOTE:
Change the oil with engine warm and the motorcy-
cle on its side stand to assure complete and rapid
draining .

Engine and exhaust system parts become very hot
and remain hot for some time after the engine is
run. Wear insulated gloves or wait until the engine
and exhaust system have cooled before handling
these parts. . Oil

Warm up the engine.
Stop the engine and remove the engine under cov-
er (page 2-4).
Remove oil filler cap and drain bolt, and drain the
oil.
Remove the oil filter cartridge and let the remaining
oil drain out. Discard the filter cartridge.

Oil filter wrench 07 HAA-PJ 70 1 00
CAUTION:
Used engine oil may cause skin cancer if rep-
eatedly left in contact with the skin for prolonged
periods. Although this is unlikely unless you handle
used oil
on a
daily basis,
it
is still advisable to thor-
oughly wash your hands with soap and water as
soon as possible after handling used oil.
Apply oil to the O-ring and threads of a new oil
filter cartridge and install the filter cartridge.
TORQUE: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf.m, 7Ibf·ft)
After draining the oil completely check that the
sealing washer on the drain bolt is in good condi-
tion and replace it if necessary.
Install and tighten the drain bolt.
TORQUE: 29 N·m (3.0 kgf·m , 22 Ibf·ft)
Fill the crankcase with the recommended oil (page
3-10).

at disassembly
Reinstall the oil filler cap.
Check the engine oil level (page 3-9).
Make sure there are no oil leaks.
Install the engine under cover (page 2-4).
