ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Taillight Bulb Installation
1. Align the small pins on the side of the light bulb with the slots in the light socket. Slide the bulb into the
socket and turn one quarter-turn clockwise (Figure 12-33, Page 12-30).
2. Place the gasket onto the light assembly. Place the taillight lens onto the light assembly with the mount-
ing holes aligned and install the screws.
3. Connect battery cables, positive (+) cable first, and tighten hardware to 12 ft-lb (16 N·m).
See Figure 10-1, Section 10, Page 10-3. Coat terminals with Battery Terminal Protector Spray (CCI P/
N 1014305) to minimize corrosion.
Taillight Removal
1. Disconnect the battery cables as instructed. See WARNING "To avoid unintentionally starting..." in
General Warning, Section 10, Page 10-1.
2. Remove the screws (1) securing the taillight (7) to the rear fender (8) (Figure 12-34, Page 12-30).
3. Disconnect the wires and remove the taillight.
Taillight Installation
1. Connect the wires from the taillight to the lighting harness.
2. Mount the taillight to the rear fender with two screws (Figure 12-34, Page 12-30).
3. Connect battery cables, positive (+) cable first, and tighten hardware to 12 ft-lb (16 N·m).
See Figure 10-1, Section 10, Page 10-3. Coat terminals with Battery Terminal Protector Spray (CCI P/
N 1014305) to minimize corrosion.
4. Ensure that taillights and brake lights are functioning correctly.
