ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Solenoid Installation
1. Install the solenoid in the electrical component box. Use two screws to secure the solenoid to the box and
tighten to 14 in-lb (1.6 N·m).
2. Connect all wires as indicated. See the appropriate wiring diagram in Section 11 – Troubleshooting
and Electrical System, starting on page 11-6.
• Turf 2 and Carryall 2 vehicles:
- Connect the 6-gauge white wire from the starter/generator, the 18-gauge white wire from the fuel
gauge/hour meter, and the 16-gauge red wire from the voltage regulator to the large post on the
solenoid. See Figure 11-1, Section 11, Page 11-6 for Turf 2 vehicles. See Figure 11-2, Section 11,
Page 11-7 for Carryall 2 vehicles.
- Connect the 6-gauge red wire from the battery terminal and the 10-gauge red wire from the fuse
block to the other large post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge blue wire from the key switch to the small post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge orange wire from the accelerator pedal limit switch to the other small post on
the solenoid.
• Carryall 2 Plus vehicles:
- Connect the 6-gauge white wire from the starter/generator, the 18-gauge white wire from the fuel
gauge/hour meter, and the 16-gauge red wire from the voltage regulator to the large post on the
solenoid. See Figure 11-7, Section 11, Page 11-12.
- Connect the 6-gauge red wire from the battery terminal and the 10-gauge red wire from the fuse
block to the other large post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge white wire from the voltage regulator and the diode, opposite directional line,
to the small post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge orange wire from the accelerator pedal limit switch, the 18-gauge orange/
white wire from the key switch, the 18-gauge blue wire from the voltage regulator, the 18-gauge
orange wire from the (COIL) terminal on the relay, and the diode, directional end, to the other small
post on the solenoid.
• Turf 6 vehicles:
- Connect the 6-gauge white wire from the starter/generator, the 18-gauge white wire from the fuel
gauge/hour meter, and the 16-gauge red wire from the voltage regulator to the large post on the
solenoid. See Figure 11-5, Section 11, Page 11-10.
- Connect the 6-gauge red wire from the battery terminal and the 10-gauge red wire from the fuse
block to the other large post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 16-gauge blue wire from the key switch to the small post on the solenoid
- Connect the 18-gauge orange wire from the accelerator pedal limit switch to the other small post on
the solenoid.
• Carryall 6, Villager and TransPorter vehicles:
- Connect the 6-gauge white wire from the starter/generator, the 18-gauge white wire from the fuel
gauge/hour meter, and the 16-gauge red wire from the voltage regulator to the large post on the
solenoid. See Figure 11-3, Section 11, Page 11-8.
- Connect the 6-gauge red wire from the battery terminal and the 10-gauge red wire from the fuse
block to the other large post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge white wire from the voltage regulator and the diode, opposite directional line,
to the small post on the solenoid.
- Connect the 18-gauge orange wire from the accelerator pedal limit switch, the 18-gauge blue wire
from the key switch, the 18-gauge blue wire from the voltage regulator, the 18-gauge orange wire
from the (COIL) terminal on the relay, and the diode, directional end, to the other small post on the
solenoid.
