Service Procedures
1. Shut down the RIP Station 5000
(see "To shut down the RIP Station 5000" on page 4-2).
2. Open the RIP Station 5000
(see "To open the RIP Station 5000" on page 4-3).
3. For stability during service, remove the front panel
(see "To remove the front panel" on page 4-6).
4. Remove the fan cables from motherboard connectors J18 and J28.
5. Cut the tie wrap that holds the fan wires to the white tie-mount on the metal bracket
holding the fans.
6. Remove the three screws that secure each fan to the metal bracket and remove the fans
(with wires attached).
Set the screws aside for reassembly.
1. Unpack the two new fans with fan wires attached and the tie wraps.
2. Place each fan on the metal bracket so that an arrow on the fan points to the rear of the
chassis (see the arrows in Figure 4-17 on page 4-23).
3. Secure each fan to the bracket with the three screws previously removed.
4. Use a tie wrap to secure the fan cables to the white tie-mount on the metal bracket.
Fold any excess cable neatly and secure with a tie-wrap.
5. Attach the two fan cables to motherboard connectors J18 and J28.
Either fan can be connected to either connector on the motherboard.
6. If you removed the front panel from the center frame, reattach it
