5. Remove the ribbon cable connected to the UIB.

6. Remove the four screws that secure the UIB to the inside front panel.
Set aside the screws for reassembly and place the UIB in an anti-static bag.

O INSTALL THE
1. Remove the old UIB, if installed
(see "To remove the UIB").
2. Unpack the replacement UIB and place it inside the front panel.
Make sure the button pads in the front panel stay in place. Also, make sure no dust

or marks are on the inside of the front panel plastic lens or on the display window glass of
the new UIB. See "Precautions" on page x.
3. Secure the UIB to the inside front panel with the four screws removed previously.
4. Attach the UIB cable to the keyed connector on the UIB, making sure to lock it in place
using the levers.

The UIB enclosure and the front panel are now ready to be installed. See "To install the
front panel" on page 4-7).
5. Reattach the front panel to the center frame
(see "To install the front panel" on page 4-7).
6. Reassemble the RIP Station 5000 and verify its functionality
(see "Restoring functionality after service" on page 4-11).
