Troubleshooting Procedures
"Checking the printer interface" on page 5-19 explains how to print the Test Page from
the RIP Station 5000. "Checking network connections" on page 5-19 includes
guidelines for checking the network connections between the RIP Station 5000 and
the computers or workstations to which it is connected, and information on several
printing problems.

Where problems occur

The RIP Station 5000 is a server for one printer, and it is generally part of a
configuration such as the one shown in Figure 5-1 on page 5-3. Problems may occur in
one of three areas:
• Inside the RIP Station 5000
• In the interface between the RIP Station 5000 and the printer
• In the interface between the RIP Station 5000 and the workstations or computers to
which it is connected
This chapter does not attempt to provide troubleshooting information for attached
computers such as the Mac OS or PC-compatibles, for print devices, or for extensive
networks. You should refer problems in these areas to the appropriate service department
and network administrator.
