Enter the address of the e-mail server into the Email Server Address: field.

Select an encryption option from the Use Encryption drop-down list.
None – Notification e-mails do not use encryption.
TLS – Notification e-mails are sent using TLS encryption.
SSL – Notification e-mails are sent using SSL encryption.

Set the TCP port number by entering the number into the TCP Port: field. The port is
typically 25, 465, or 587.

In the Username: field type the user name for the e-mail account entered in step 1.
This name is displayed in the outgoing notification emails.

In the Password: field type the password for the e-mail account entered in step 1.
Passwords must consist of alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers) only.
Special characters and punctuation are not allowed.
Passwords are case-sensitive.

In the Options: field type in any required options for the e-mail account.

Click Test to send an e-mail from the SMP 351 to the designated recipient. An Email
Test Results dialog box opens indicating the status of the e-mail test.

Click Re-Test to send the e-mail again or click Close to close the dialog box.

If the test e-mail does not arrive, change settings within the Alarm Notifier
Destinations pane as needed and click Test again. Repeat if necessary.

Configuring alarms

The Alarm Message List pane features a list of the available types of alarms (types of
SNMP "traps"). To configure each alarm in the list, select the radio button corresponding to
the desired option in the Severity columns.
Notify — This option sends an e-mail to the designated recipient each time the
corresponding alarm is triggered. The alarm is also displayed and logged.
This is High priority, shown with "alert" severity.
Display — This option displays a notice of the alarm condition within the SMP 351
embedded Web pages and the front panel display when the corresponding alarm
condition occurs. No e-mail is sent. The event is logged.
This is Normal priority, shown with "notice" severity.
Log — This option tells the SMP 351 to list the corresponding alarm in the events
log, accessed by clicking Troubleshooting>Logs tab. No e-mail is sent.
This is Low priority, shown with "info" severity.
Disabled — If this option is selected, the SMP 351 will not create a log, front panel
display, or notification for the corresponding alarm type, though it will still appear in the
alarms list within Troubleshooting>Alarms.
