The SMP 351 sends the copyright messages under the following circumstances:
If the SMP 351 is off and an RS-232 connection is already set up (the PC is cabled to
the SMP 351 and a serial communication program such as HyperTerminal is open), the
connected unit sends these messages via RS-232 when first powered on.
If the SMP 351 is on, it sends the copyright messages when a Telnet connection to
the SMP 351 is first opened. The day of the week, date, and time are shown when the
SMP 351 is connected via Telnet, but not via RS-232. If using a Telnet connection, the
copyright message, date, and time may be followed by a password prompt.
