The power wheelchair features a servo steering with
release mechanism. The two rear wheels are connected
to each other through a steering linkage and the respec-
tive steering angle is adjusted by a servo-motor. This con-
siderably improves the driving behaviour especially on
uneven terrain or at higher speeds.
In order to still benefit from the low turning radius, the joy-
stick can be used to switch from outdoor mode to indoor
mode. In the indoor mode, the steering linkage is uncou-
pled enabling the rear wheels to freely rotate around the
steering axle. This allows to achieve high manoevrability
indoors.
