requirements for the user
The power wheelchair may only be used by
informed users. For this purpose, the user and
maybe any attendant must receive instructions on
how to use the power wheelchair from trained
specialists who have been authorised by Otto Bock.
The user must have read and understood all the
information in the instructions for use.
The wheelchair may not be operated in cases of
exhaustion or under the influence of alcohol or
drugs. The user must not have any mental limita-
tions which can temporarily or permanently restrict
attentiveness and judgment.
Before using the power wheelchair for the first time,
the user must become familiar with the wheelchair
on level ground first. This can help avoid tipping and
dangerous situations.
Getting to know how the power wheelchair reacts
when the centre of gravity shifts, for example, on
slopes or inclines or when clearing obstacles like
steps and curbs should be done only with assi-
stance from another person before using the
wheelchair for the first time.
When driving in the dark, it is strongly recommen-
ded that the user wear bright clothes or clothing
with reflectors.

Safety functions
In dangerous situations, the C1000 can be turned off at
any time using the on/off button. When the button is
pressed, the power wheelchair brakes immediately and
the electric functions will be stopped.
If any malfunctions occur such as an insufficient supply
of energy to the brake, the software will recognize them
and trigger the emergency stop brake or reduce the
speed of the power wheelchair. At the same time, a warn-
ing signal will be emitted.
