2.3 general Safety Instructions
All safety instructions contained in these instructions

for use and in all other applicable documents must
be observed and complied with. The instructions for
use must be available to the user at all times. The
C1000 may only be used properly.
The C1000 may only be used by persons trained in

its use and must not be used by unauthorised
persons.
The C1000 may be used for transporting only one
❒
person.
For safety reasons, it is strongly recommended that
❒
the user always apply and fasten the lap belt, which
is available from Otto Bock as an accessory.
The lap belt helps to additionally stabilise the person
❒
sitting in the power wheelchair. The lap belt must
never be used as part of a restraint system for
transportation of the person in motor vehicles for the
disabled.
The back upholstery and seat cushion of the power
❒
wheelchair are not highly flammable, but can
however catch fire. Therefore utmost caution near
any sources of open flame or sparks, especially lit
cigarettes, is required.
The packing material must be kept away from
❒
children, since it presents a danger of suffocation.

When driving on inclines or slopes, it is not permissi-
❒
ble to negotiate obstacles.
Operating the power wheelchair on stairs is not
❒
permitted.
Avoid getting into and out of the power wheelchair
❒
while standing on an incline or slope.
If the driving mode is changed while driving, the
❒
power wheelchair will accelerate or decelerate.
Releasing the brake may result in uncontrolled
❒
rolling of the power wheelchair. Therefore, make
sure that the brake is engaged after parking the
power wheelchair.
Uncontrolled movements can occur during the
❒
operation of the power wheelchair as a result of
malfunction. In this case, please contact your
authorised dealer immediately.
Only original options provided by the manufacturer
❒
may be used. The optional components may be
mounted only as described here. Failure to comply
will void the warranty.
After loosening screw connections with thread lock,
❒
these screw connections must be replaced with
new ones or be secured with medium-strength
thread lock substance (e.g. EuroLock A24.20).
