Heat coolant to 123 °C (253 °F) and measure re-
sistance of sensor. It should be within 15 - 19 .
Otherwise, replace sensor.
Reinstall and reconnect sensor.
Refill cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYS-
TEM.
Remove front cover to gain access to module. Re-
fer to BODY.
Disconnect connector at engine overheat lamp
module.

Apply directly 12 Vdc on GREEN/BLACK wire and
connect battery ground to the other wire.
Measure voltage at lamp socket. Battery voltage
should be read.

If there is no voltage, check supply wire going to
lamp socket. If good, check ground wire of lamp
socket. If good, continue testing.
Measure voltage between WHITE/BLACK and
GREEN wires going to module. You should read
battery voltage.

If so, try a new module.
Otherwise, measure voltage between WHITE/
BLACK supply wire and battery ground. You
should read battery voltage.
