Operation

Remote Event/Zero

If the detector is connected to a computer or
sampling injector, the scan and zero functions can
be initiated remotely via the remote event (scan)
and autozero (zero scan) connection.

Scan Mode Event Marker

In the scan wavelength mode, output channel 3
contains a special event mark function. To set
channel 3 as an event mark channel, refer to
Detector Setup
Parameters, earlier in this section.
To see scan event marks which occur every 10 nm
throughout the scan range, you connect output
channel 3 to a recorder.
If the detector is the data source and channel 3 has
been set as an event mark channel, the event marks
are negative spikes on the time line.

Zero Scan

To accurately scan a sample across a range of
wavelengths, the detector must first subtract the
absorbance of pure mobile phase at those
wavelengths.
To tell the detector about the mobile phase
absorbance characteristics, perform a zero scan
on pure mobile phase. You must do this before a
peak passes the detector. Initiate the zero scan by
pressing the Zero soft key.
