GSIOC Control

The Gilson Serial Input/Output Channel (GSIOC) is an asynchronous serial communications
interface that enhances the power of Gilson devices, such as a 155 or 156 Detector.
Communication occurs via the GSIOC or RS-232 connection between the system controller
and detector.
The detector is a slave device and is identified by a unique number which must be known
to the slave device and to the system controller. The default ID code of the detector is 16.
You can set it to another number, but remember to use the same ID number when issuing
commands to the detector via the system controller.
From the computer, you:
• specify the detector as the device that you want to control
• issue commands that set operating parameters for, control operation of, or request
information from the detector
To control the detector via the GSIOC interface, you need:
• Gilson control software and 506C System Interface or
• 706 Device Driver Software and your program
