Configuration (WBM)
4.5 Establishing the connection between RTU and configuration PC
DHCP server of the RTU disabled
Requirements: On the RTU the "Specify IP address manually" option was enabled earlier.
There is no DHCP server in the local network.
1. Select the option to assign an IP address.
2. Enter the following values:
– IP address: 192.168.0.4
– Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
The address of the PC must be located in the subnet of the LAN interface of the RTU.
Establishing a connection to the RTU
1. Connect the configuration PC.
– With a LAN connection: Connection to connector X1P1 of the turned on RTU
– With a WAN connection: Connection to the router connected to the Internet
2. Only with WAN connection: Start the OpenVPN client and connect to the OpenVPN
server.
3. Call up the Web browser on the configuration PC.
4. Enter the address (IP address or host name) in the address line of the Web browser:
http://<Address>
As default the following is preset for the LAN Interface:
– IP address: 192.168.0.3
– Host name: simatic.rtu
When using OpenVPN, the IP address and if applicable the host name of the RTU are
configured via the OpenVPN server.
When doing this note that the IP address on the LAN interface and the IP address of the
RTU in the Open VPN network must be located in different subnets.
5. Press the Enter key.
In some situations when you log in a warning message is displayed indicating that the
Web page is unsafe or that the certificate is not trustworthy. If you are sure that you have
entered the correct address, ignore the message. Also add the connection to the
exceptions in your Web browser (depending on the browser).
The login page of the WBM is opened.
