2.3 Interfaces and connectors
Maximum cable lengths:
The maximum length of all cables connected to the RTU is 30 m.
Design of the connectors as plug-in terminals
The connectors are designed as plug-in screw terminals located side by side on the top and
bottom of the device. By removing the terminals you can wire the individual connectors even
when there is little space and then plug them in again even if the device is already in a
protective housing.
Reverse polarity protection
All terminals are designed so that they can only be plugged into one position. This provides
constructional reverse polarity protection.
The connector X10 IN to the external power supply of the RTU also has electronic reverse
polarity protection.
X10: Voltage input of the RTU and control output for actuators and sensors
X10 is a connector with a 5-pin terminal.
● X10 IN
The RTU is supplied with an external voltage via the connector X10 IN. Voltage sources
with a voltage range of 12 to 24 VDC are possible.
Note
Safety extra-low voltages (SELV)
The RTU may only be supplied with safety extra-low voltage (SELV) with limited power
(Limited Power Source, LPS) according to IEC 60950-1 / EN 60950-1 / VDE 0805-1 or
the power supply unit for supplying the device must comply with NEC Class 2 according
to National Electrical Code (r) (ANSI / NFPA 70).
If you use battery modules at the same time as an external voltage source, the RTU
switches from battery operation to the external voltage supply as soon as there is an
adequate voltage at X10 IN.
● X10 CTRL
X10 CTRL can be configured using the WBM as a 12/24 V control output to control an
external router or to supply sensors and switches of actuators connected to the RTU.
The voltage value for X10 and X11 (12 or 24 V) can be configured.
X10 CTRL is regulated; in other words the voltage is independent of X10 IN. Voltage
fluctuations of the external power supply are not passed on to X10 CTRL.
X10 is not designed for the power supply of powerful actuators. Remember the maximum
permitted power in the section Technical data (Page 261).
