ST7
The transmission protocol MSCsec
When using the telecontrol protocol SINAUT ST7 the RTU always uses the secure
transmission protocol "MSCsec". MSCsec supports authentication of the communications
partners with a user name and password and data encryption. In addition to this, the shared
automatically generated key is renewed between the communications partners at a
configurable key exchange interval.
STEP 7 configuration of the communications partner
For communication with the partner a substitute must be configured for the RTU in the STEP
7 project that must be supplied with the required address data and with which a telecontrol
connection needs to be created. As the substitute for the RTU configure a "CP 1243-8".

The RTU (or the CP) has the network node type "MSC station" in the STEP 7 configuration.
The partner of the RTU (or CP) has the network node type "MSC master station".
Parameters
Here you configure the address data of the RTU, of the communications partner of the RTU
and the transfer settings.
The following data needs to be configured:
● Active
Enable the option to enable the communication between the RTU and its communications
partner.
● Interface
Selection of the interface for the telecontrol communication:
– LAN
– WAN
– VPN
The data is always encrypted by the mechanism of the "MSCsec" protocol.
● IP address or URL of the master station TIM
IP address or URL of the communications partner (TIM)
● MSC port of the TIM
MSC port of the master station TIM or of the router of the master station
(can be configured in the master station: 1024 .. 65535; standard port: 26382)
