3.8 Commissioning and starting up the RTU
For information on the location and labeling of the battery modules and battery expansion
modules, refer to the appendix Battery module and battery expansion module (Page 275).
1. Take the battery holder out of the battery module.
2. Insert the batteries in the battery holder.
3. Put the battery holder in the battery module.
4. Plug the connector of the battery holder in the socket X10 BATTERY of the battery
module.
If applicable, perform the same steps for the battery expansion modules and for the second
battery module including its expansion modules.

Starting battery operation
The RTU only starts up when there are two batteries with adequate voltage and capacity in
the main battery module. The RTU cannot start up with the other battery modules.
Note
Battery switchover only when a configuration exists.
The RTU only switches between battery module 1 and 2 if you have configured battery
modules in the WBM and have connected them in the WBM. For configuration and changing
batteries, refer to the section Power supply (Page 142).
Supply of the RTU via battery modules and external power supply
1. Turn on the external power supply.
The RTU starts up.
2. Connect the batteries as described above.
