6.4 Resetting to factory settings
● Data not deleted
The following data is not deleted by resetting to factory settings:
– MAC address of the LAN interface:
– Process data on the SD card
– A manually created configuration file "user.cfg" on the SD card
Executing the "Reset to factory settings" function
Two methods are available for resetting to factory settings:
● Resetting using the WBM
For a description of the procedure, refer to the section Operating status (Page 103).
● Resetting using the "WKUP/RESET" button
For the number of times and duration of pressing the button, refer to the section The
button "WKUP/RESET" (Page 47).
For the LED reactions during resetting and restarting, refer to the section LEDs (Page 40).
Reaction after resetting to factory settings
After the reset, the RTU starts up again automatically. The remaining behavior depends on
the use of an optional SD card:
● Startup without SD card
– If you do not use an SD card, the RTU remains in service mode without configuration
– The RTU is reachable locally via the following default IP address set in the factory
– The DHCP client function is enabled.
– The RTU starts up without configuration data.
● Startup with SD card
If an SD card is plugged in, the RTU searches the SD card for the configuration file
"default.cfg" which was deleted during the reset.
A configuration file "user.cfg" saved on the SD card by the user is not used.
The RTU remains in service mode. The STATUS LED flashes red.
If you turn off the RTU after the reset, and then start it up with an SD card plugged in with
a configuration file "default.cfg", the RTU uses the configuration file "default.cfg". See also
section Commissioning and starting up the RTU (Page 66).
