Handler RAP

The status code A1 is displayed when the
logic detects that there is a document
handler problem. As the document i s
scanned and then rescanned, the lnsert
Document Sensor and the Front Document
Sensor are actuated and deactuated, causing
the sensor signals t o change state. The logic
detects a change i n the state of the lnsert
Document Sensor and the Front Document
Sensor signals.
A1.63 Indicates that the logic detected
that the lnsert Document Sensor
deactuated too late after the Front
Document Sensor deactuated. The
lnsert Document Sensor signal
remained HlGH after the Front
Document Sensor changed state
from
a
HIGH t o LOW as the
document was being scanned.

Indicates that the logic detected
that the Front Document Sensor
deactuated before the lnsert
Document Sensor deactuated. The
Front Document Sensor signal
changed state from a HlGH t o LOW
as the document was being scanned
and
the
insert Document Sensor
signal remained HIGH.
The problem may occur i f one of the
following conditions exist:
the Document Handler has
an
excessive static condition.
the document i s not i n good
condition.
there i s a problem with the Document
Drive Motor or the motor control
circuitry.
Initial Actions
Remove the Upper Document
Handler. Ensure that the actuators for
the Insert Document Sensor and the
Front Document Sensor are not
binding or damaged.
Ensure that the connectors for the
lnsert Document Sensor (Q21 PI)
,
the
Front Document Sensor (422 PI) and
the Control PWB (A3 P304) are not
damaged and are seated correctly.
Check that the copier has Tag1 MOD
02 installed (Document Sensor
-
0
Rings).
Procedure
Enter the code [0501] in order t o check the
lnsert Document Sensor. The Control Panel
display indicates a (01) when the sensor is
actuated.
Activate the lnsert Document Sensor.
The display changes from (00) t o (01) when
the sensor is actuated.
Y N
Go t o
FLAG
1 and check the wiring
between the lnsert Document Sensor
and the Control PWB for an open circuit
or a short circuit t o ground.
If there i s no open or short circuit,
replace the lnsert Document Sensor
( 4 2 1 ) .
If the problem persists, replace the
Control PWB (A3).
Enter the code I05021 in order t o check the
Front Document Sensor. The Control Panel
display indicates a (01) when the sensor i s
actuated.
Activate the Front Document Sensor.
The display changes from (00) t o (01) when
the sensor is actuated.
