4.3 Main Drive Motor
This
RAP
is
used for problems with the Main
Drive Motor (MOT 21) on copiers equipped
with ONE AC Main Drive Motor. Copiers
equipped with one AC Drive Motor are
identified as With Tagl
MOD
28, (WI Tag1
MOD 28).
On copiers equipped with TWO AC Drive
Motors use the
(4.1
Developer Drive Motor
MOT
21 (Wt 0
Tagl
MOD 28))
or the
(4.2
Fuserf Drum Drive Motor MOT 22 (WI 0 Tagl
MOD 28)) RAP.
The fault
may
or may not be Indicated by a
status code. The problem may occur if there
is
a fault
in
the Main Drive Motor, the motor
,
control
circuitry
or
the
mechanical
components.
NOTE: The component locator drawings and
the circuit diagram are on the following
I
pages.

Initial Actions
A
WARNING
Dangerous Voltage
is
present on
the ACH wires and terminal
connectors.
Check
the
Main
Drive
Motor
connector (M2 1 PI J 1) for damage and
ensure that the connector is seated
correctly.
Check that the Main Drive Gears are i n
good condition, are not contaminated
with foreign matter and are engaged
correctly.
Check that the Developer Drive
Coupling
is
in
good condition
and is
engaged fully.
Procedure
CAUTION
In
order to prevent damage to the copier,
the Fuser Heat RON must be at the run
temperature before the Main Drive Motor
is
switched on.
NOTE: 1. The code [lo041 may be timed out
and switched o f f after the Heat Roll reaches
the run temperature. The Start button must
be pressed,
in
order to reenter the code
[1004].
2.
If the message, "FUSER CAN NOT BE
TURNED ON, CONDITION XX", is displayed
when the code [1004] i s entered, refer to the
Special Tests [I0041 located
in
Section 6.
Enter the code [I0041
in
order t o energize
the Fuser Heat Rod and increase the Fuser
Heat
Roll
temperature
t o
the
run
temperature.
The message, "1004 FUSER
TEMP TEST TEMP
r
XXX CELSIUS, XXX
FAHRENHEIT", is displayed when the Heat
Roll i s at the run temperature. The Main
Drive Motor
is
switched on, when the Fuser
Roll i s at
the
run temperature.
With the Fuser Roll a t the run temperature,
the Main Drive Motor Is switched
on.

There is ACH between pins P1
and
P2 of
the Main Drive Motor connector (M21).

Connect the (-) probe t o the AC
GROUND at E l of the Power Cord
terminal. Connect the
( + )
probe t o
the
26
terminal of the Fuser Power
Relay (KZ).
There Is ACH between 26 and El.

There may be an open circuit in
the ACH wire between the Fuser
Power Relay (K2) and the Main
Power Relay
(K1).
Go t o the 1 .I
AC POWER RAP and check the
ACH wire for an open circuit i n
the wire.
Repair the wires as
required.
Switch Off (0) the copier power. Go
t o FLAG 1 and check the wiring for
an open circuit i n the wires. If there
is no
open circuit, switch On (1) the
copier power.
There is
+
26VDC at A2 P212 pin 8 of
the LVPSI DRIVER PWB.
There is
+
26VDC at A2 P212 pin
7 of
the
LVPSl DRIVER PWB.
