Armature Speed Rear Disc Brakes
Do not use a commercially available spring tester
for making adjuster force measurements. Sud-
den adjuster force release can damage such a
tester, requiring repair and re calibration.
NOTE: If a suitable hydraulic shop press is available,
the calibrated spring pod (4, Figure 6-20) is
unnecessary. Such a press must have a pressure
gauge with a 3447 kPa (500 psi) range accurately
calibrated to read pounds of force exerted by the
ram.
3. At the arbor press, place the piston assembly
on top of the special calibrated spring pod.
Slowly lower the arbor to push in the extended
adjuster pin as shown in View A, Figure 6-20.
The adjuster pin should slip into the adjuster
and move downward at readings between 173-
362 kg (380-800 lbs).
