UNIT REPAIR OVERHAUL
DISMOUNTING AND REMOUNTING
1) Disconnect positive (+) and negative (–) battery lead cables at
battery.
2) Remove battery and battery tray.
3) Disconnect EVAP canister (1) and remove cable clamp (2).
4) Disconnect magnetic switch lead wire and battery cable from
starting motor (1).
5) Remove two starting motor mount bolts (2).
6) Remove starting motor.
7) To install, reverse the above procedure.
CRANKING SYSTEM 6G1-5
1. Magnetic switch mounting screw
2. Front housing
3. Pinion drive lever:
Apply lithium grease 99500-25010
to joint of magnetic switch and
over-running clutch.
Note the installation direction.
4. Magnetic switch:
Apply lithium grease 99500-25010 to
plunger part.
5. Field coil lead nut
6. Armature shaft bush:
Apply lithium grease 99500-25010 to
the inside.
7. Snap ring
8. Stop ring
9. Over-running clutch:
Apply lithium grease 99500-25010 to
spline part.
10. Armature:
Apply a bit of lithium grease
99500-25010 to seams of armature
shaft bush and over-running clutch.
11. Starting motor yoke
12. Brush
13. Brush holder
14. Armature shaft washer:
Thickness 1.8 mm (0.07 in.)
15. Armature shaft washer:
Thickness 0.5 mm (0.02 in.)
16. Rear bracket
17. Rear bracket bolt
18. Rear bracket screw
: Tightening Torque
: Do not reuse
