8B-4 LIGHTING SYSTEM
HEADLIGHTS
Trouble
Only one light does not
light
Headlights do not light
when lighting switch is
in headlight position and
engine is stopped
Headlights do not light
when lighting switch is in
OFF position and engine is
running
Only one beam ("Hi" or
"Lo") does not light
HEADLIGHTS WITH LEVELING SYSTEM

Both headlights do not

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (D.R.L.) SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)
Trouble
Headlights do not light
when lighting switch is in
OFF position and engine is
running
Headlights still light even
if lighting switch is in OFF
position and engine is
stopped
Headlights still light even
if lighting switch is in tail
position when engine is
running
DIAGNOSIS
Possible cause
D Bulb burnt out
D Fuse blown
D Socket, wiring or grounding faulty
D Main fuse and/or fuses blown
D Lighting and dimmer switch faulty
D Wiring or grounding faulty
D D.R.L. controller faulty
D D.R.L. system faulty
D Bulb burnt out
D Dimmer switch faulty

D Fuse blown
D Leveling switch faulty
D Supply voltage too low
D Socket, wiring or grounding faulty
D Actuator faulty
D Vehicle body around headlight deformed
D Headlight ass'y itself deformed
Possible cause
D D.R.L. controller faulty
D Wiring or grounding faulty
D D.R.L. controller faulty
D "Y/B" circuit faulty
D D.R.L. controller faulty
D Lighting switch faulty
D Position light relay faulty
D Wiring or grounding faulty
Correction
Replace bulb
Replace fuse
Repair as necessary
Replace main fuse and/or fuses
to check for short
Check switches
Repair as necessary
Replace controller
