ENGINE UNIT REPAIR
Engine Assembly
Removal
CAUTION
 Remove engine and transmission as an assembly.
 Install protector to prevent the body from being scratched.
 Block inlet of intake pipe after removing air filter and engine trim cover to prevent foreign matter from
entering. Otherwise the foreign matter will block intake passage when starting, which may cause serious
damage to engine.

1. Remove the engine trim cover assembly
2. Remove the trim cover rear left bracket
3. Release fuel system pressure
4. Turn off all the electrical equipment and ignition switch.
5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
6. Drain the engine oil
7. Drain the transmission oil
8. Drain the brake fluid
9. Drain the coolant
10.Drain the steering fluid (w/ hydraulic assist steering)
11. Recover the refrigerant
12.Remove the hood assembly
13.Remove the battery
14.Remove the battery tray and tray bracket
15.Remove the air induction pipe assembly
16.Remove the air filter assembly and its bracket
17.Remove the exhaust manifold assembly
18.Remove the brake fluid reservoir
19.Remove the front wheel
20.Remove the engine lower protector assembly
21.Remove the drive shaft
22.Disconnect the connection between precatalytic converter assembly and cylinder block.
a. Remove 2 coupling bolts (1) on left side and the
coupling bolt (2) on right side between precatalytic
converter assembly bracket and cylinder block
(Tightening torque for coupling bolt on left side: 
23 ± 2 N·m; Tightening torque for coupling bolt on
right side: 50 ± 5 N·m).
