2. Remove tank cover if so equipped.
3. Drain tank.
4. Disconnect fuel line, meter wire and ground lead.
5. Remove nine bolts and fasteners securing tank to
cab.
. Remove tank from cab simultaneously disengaging

filler neck from the rubber grommet in the cab
opening.
7. Remove meter assembly from fuel tank using Tool
J-8950.
. To install reverse removal procedure.

Removal and Installation—!^ and % Ton Chassis
(Center) Mounted Tanks (Fig. 3)
1. Drain tank.
2. Unclamp filler neck and vent tube hose.
3. Unclamp gauge unit hose at frame end.
4. Support tank and remove support strap.
5. Lower tank until gauge unit wiring can be removed.
. Remove fuel tank.

7. Install in the reverse order, being sure that the anti­
squeak material is replaced.

Removal and Installation—P Models and
1 Ton Chassis (Frame) Mounted Tanks (Fig. 4)
1. Drain tank.
2. Remove filler neck.
3. Disconnect gauge unit fuel line and wiring. Ignition
switch must be in OFF position.
4. Remove bolts attaching tank supports to frame.
5. Remove tank complete with mounting brackets and
support straps.
. Remove tank from brackets and support straps, if

necessary.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Replace
all anti-squeak material.
Removal and Installation—1Vi, and 2 Ton Chassis
(Frame) Mounted Tanks (Fig. 5)
1. Drain tank.
2. Disconnect filler neck hose connection at lower
clamp.
3. Disconnect fuel line and wiring from tank unit. Igni­
tion switch must be in OFF position.
