3. Place jack under transmission, raise transmission
in order to clear adapter from mounting.
4. Remove bolts connecting adapter to transmission
and remove adapter.
Installation
1. Using chassis lubricant place gasket on facing of
transmission.
2. Line-up transmission and adapter splines and push
adapter against transmission. Install all bolts which
hold adapter to transmission loosely. Then torque
all bolts to specifications.
3. Lower jack under transmission and line up holes in
mounting and adapter.
4. Install two mounting bolts and torque.
5. Install bolts and lock which hold bracket assembly
and control lever to the adapter.
Installation
1. Using chassis lubricant
adapter case.
install new gaskets to

2. With transfer case on suitable cradle line up the
output spline on the adapter and input spline on the
transfer case.
3. Push transfer case against adapter.
4. Line up outer attaching bolt holes and loosely install
bolts and washers.
5. Install two attaching bolts which are on inside of
adapter case.
. Torque to specifications all nine attaching bolts and

install access cover to the adapter assembly (fig.
7. Install two bolts with lock washers, through bracket
on right side of transfer case and torque to specifi­
cations .
. Remove cradle from transfer case.

9. Connect lever selector to transfer case by installing
the two clevis pins through clevis and insert cotter
pins.
10. Connect prop shafts to yoke at transfer case. Torque
bolts to specifications.
11. F ill transfer case with proper lubricant.
