TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT
Removal
1. On transmissions equipped with remote controls,
disconnect
control
transmission.
2. Remove transmission cover from cab floor on mod­
els not equipped with remote controls.
3. Disconnect speedometer drive cable from driven
gear adapter at rear of transmission.
4. Disconnect propeller shaft as outlined in PROPEL­
LER SHAFT (SEC. 4).
5. Disconnect hand brake (if used) at transmission as
described in "HAND BRAKE" (Sec. 5).
. While properly supporting the transmission remove

transmission to clutch housing attaching bolts and
lock washers.
7. Pull transmission straight away from the clutch

housing until main drive gear shaft clears clutch disc
splines.
. Lower transmission and remove it from the vehicle.

Installation
NOTE:
Before installing transmission in the
vehicle, be sure rear surface of clutch housing
and front surface of transmission case are
clean. Coat main drive gear splines and pilot
bearing in engine flywheel with lubricant speci­
fied in LUBRICATION (SEC. 0).
1. With transmission properly supported on sutable
transmission jack, move transmission into position
under vehicle.
