FRONT SUSPENSION 3-2
The Chevrolet Truck line incorporates two different
types of front suspension systems: Independent coil, and
I-Beam
axle with conventional leaf or tapered leaf
springs (figs. 1, 2, 3).
The unequal length control arm coil spring independent
suspension is used on the forward control P-10 series
and on conventional C -10-20-30 series (1/2, 3/4, and
1-ton). This suspension consists of upper and lower con­
trol arms pivoting on steel threaded bushings on upper
and lower control arm shafts which are attached to the

crossmem ber with U-bolts.
connected to the steering knuckle through pivoting ball
joints. A coil spring is located between the lower control
arm and a formed seat in the suspension crossmember,
thus the lower control arm is the load carrying member.
The double acting shock absorbers are also attached to
the lower control arms and connect with the frame to the
rear on the upper end. The forward control P-10 series
is equipped with a stabilizer bar connected to the lower
control arm and transversely mounted to the frame side
