COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
Engine Assemblies
Removal
1. Disconnect battery cables and drain cooling system.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Perform the following preliminary operations.
ON CS 10-20-30, KS 10-20 SERIES:
• Remove the hood as outlined in Section 11.
• Remove the radiator and shroud as outlined in
Section 13.
ON CS 40-50-60, MS 50, SS 40-50 SERIES:
• Remove the front end sheet metal (with hood and
radiator attached) as outlined in Section 11.
ON GS 10-20 SERIES:
• Remove engine splash shields.

Because of the interchangeability and sim ilarity of
many engine sub-assemblies and parts, regardless of
which truck vehicle they are used in, typical illustrations
and procedures are used (except where specific illus­
trations or procedures are necessary to clarify the
operation). Although illustrations showing bench opera­
tions are used, most single operations, when not part of a
general overhaul, should be performed (if practical) with
the engine in the vehicle.
(IN LINE)
• Disconnect neutral safety switch wire at connector
(Powerglide).
• Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses at
radiator.
ON PS 10-20-30-40 SERIES:
• Remove the engine box, drivers seat, floor panel
between stepwells and floor panel around steering
column and pedals as outlined in Section IB .
• Remove the battery.
• Remove the radiator and shroud as outlined in
Section 13.
ON TS 40-50-60 SERIES
• Remove the radiator, radiator support and shroud
as outlined in Section 13.
• Disconnect shfft linkage at control island.
• Disconnect choke cable at carburetor.
