CLI Based 1+1 Hot Standby Configuration
This section assumes that the physical installation has been done already. Return to the
Installation section and connect the units in a 1+1 configuration if required.
Steps to configure 1+1 Hot Standby:
1) Follow the 1+0 configuration section to establish a link between the two main
ends of the link, with the second pair of radios turned off. The antennas should
be aligned at this point.
2) Connect the redundancy cable CBLDAT-RIU3 between the two IDUs if not already
connected.
3) For both ends of the main link:
a. Set the failover function to ON using the failover command.
failover 1 will enable failover with data ports off on the standby
failover 2 will enable failover with data ports on for all units.
b. Set opmode on.
c. Set default_opmode on.
d. Save the configuration using config save
4) Wait approximately one minute and use the utype command to confirm that the
active radios have taken the active role and the election period is over. In utype
the current utype should show as active and election period should show as no
before continuing or the radios will complete an election process to determine
the active and standby roles.
5) Bring the second link (Standby) up. If the primary link is in production, ensure the
standby units have been programmed with default_opmode off.
a. Set the failover function to ON using the failover command on both ends
of the standby link.
b. The new units should detect the active radios and have the saved
configuration sync'd from the active to the standby.
6) Verify by using the utype command on all radios to ensure protection is enabled
and all radios are synchronized after a few minutes.
7) Use config save on all units to ensure the sync'd configuration is saved.
8) If desired, test a hardware switchover with utype_switch.
