TROUBLESHOOTING

3.10 Faulty CRU Sensor

Step
1
(Initial Check)
Are any parts dirty, broken, malformed, incorrectly
installed or different from those listed in the specifica-
tions?
• Principle Parts to be Checked:
(1) CRU sensor PWB, (2) MCU PWB
(3) CRU actuator, (4) EP toner cartridge
(5) Harness assembly CRU, (6) LVPS assembly
2
(Check that the CRU actuator operates properly.)
Does the LD switch (S101) on the CRU sensor PWB
turn ON when the EP toner cartridge is installed, and
does it turn OFF when the EP toner cartridge is not
installed?
• Turn the power supply OFF and check that the
CRU actuator works properly when the EP toner
cartridge is removed and when it is installed.
3
(Check the EP toner cartridge.)
Is the protrusion on the EP toner cartridge correctly
positioned so that it moves the CRU actuator prop-
erly?
4
(Check the CRU sensor PWB.) *1
Is there continuity between P171-3PIN↔P171-4PIN
when the LD switch (S101) on the CRU sensor PWB
is ON, and is there no continuity when the LD switch
is OFF?
5
(Check the ON signal of the EP CHECK.) *1
Is the voltage 0VDC between P/J17-1PIN↔P/J17-
2PIN when the LD switch (S101) on the CRU sensor
PWB is ON, and is the voltage 5VDC when the LD
switch is OFF?
6
(Check the CRU harness assembly.)
Is there continuity between J17↔J171?
*1: Be sure connector P/J12 is disconnected from the MCU PWB.
