TROUBLESHOOTING

1.2 Advance Confirmation

Before beginning the troubleshooting procedure, always check the following:
1)
Be sure that the power supply voltage is within the specifications. (Measure the voltage from the power
supply outlet.)
2)
Be sure that the power cord has not been damaged, shorted or disconnected and that it is correctly connected.
3)
Be sure that the equipment has been properly grounded.
4)
Avoid installing the printer in a location where it will be exposed to extremely high or extremely low
temperatures, high or low humidity or sudden changes in temperature.
5)
The printer should not be installed in a hot or humid location (such as near a water faucet or humidifier), near
open flames or in a dusty environment.
6)
The printer should not be exposed to volatile or combustible gases.
7)
The printer should not be installed in a place where it will be in direct sunlight.
8)
The room where the printer is installed should be well ventilated.
9)
The printer should be placed on a solid, level surface.
10) Be sure that the paper being used is within the specifications. (Standard paper is recommended.)
11) Follow the above instructions when handling the printer.

1.3 Operating Precautions

1)
When checking the operation of the printer with the power turned ON, disconnect P/J12 from the MCU PWB,
unless otherwise indicated.
Warning:
Since it is possible that the laser beam may be emitted from the ROS assembly, disconnect P/J12 from
the MCU PWB, as indicated, when checking the operation of the printer with the power turned ON.
2)
When checking the operation of the printer with the power turned ON, do not turn on the LD switch with the EP
toner cartridge removed.
Warning:
The laser beam may be emitted from the ROS assembly when the printer is being checked with the power
ON. Do not allow the laser beam to be directed into your eyes since it can cause loss of eyesight.
3)
Be sure the power is OFF when checking the operation of the printer if the voltage is not being measured or
the test pattern is not being printed.
4)
While executing diagnosis codes 91 ~ 95, be sure that the front cover assembly is closed and that all of the
covers have been installed, unless otherwise indicated.
Warning:
Since a high voltage is generated while diagnosis codes 91 ~ 95 are being executed, do not touch any
high voltage components.
Be sure to correctly follow the procedure in this manual while executing diagnosis codes 91 ~ 95.
5)
To avoid being burnt, do not touch any high temperature components.
6)
Ground yourself using a grounding strap in order to eliminate static electricity while working on the printer.
