Replacing a SPARC-Based Server

You require the following tool:
• Flat Blade Screwdriver
To replace a SPARC-based server:
1. Disconnect all cables and the power cord from the rear of the unit.
2. Loosen the two retaining screws and slide the unit out on rails.
3. Replace with the new unit.
4. Replace the retaining screws and reconnect all cables and the power cord.

Removing the MPS 500 Power Supply

1. Soft terminate all applications running on the MPS 500, see
page 141.
2. Set the MPS 500 power switch (on the front panel) to OFF.
3. Remove all cables (such as AC power, data cables, and so on) connected to the rear of the
MPS 500.
4. Loosen the two retaining screws securing the front and lower panels.
5. Remove the two screws securing the TMS.
6. Remove the audio cable, DCC cable, and 50-pin ribbon cable from the front of the TMS.
7. Support the MPS 500 and remove the four screws securing the unit to the rack assembly.
8. Remove the screws securing the top cover of the MPS 500 and four TORX #T-15 screws on
each side securing the top cover.
Note:
Exercise caution when removing the top cover as the 50-pin ribbon cable is attached to it
(the cable runs from the TMS to the backplane).
9. Unplug the DC power cable from the backplane.
