LEDs 0 and 1 are activity indicators that blink or toggle to indicate the sequence is proceeding.
LEDs 14 and 15 are error indicators and either one can light to indicate an error during the startup
sequence. LEDs 2 through 13 indicate the test or portion of the startup process performed at a given
time. They light, in numerical order, during the startup sequence as described in the table
Boot Sequence Diagnostics for TMS
Some of the LEDs are dependent on the boot ROM settings for the TMS. It is not necessary to
connect a debug terminal to observe the LEDs or perform or diagnostics; however, if the current
settings are not known and need to be verified, see
page 123.
If the system displays an error, retry the task. You can have a problem if:
• the error LEDs indicate an error
• an activity LED is steadily on or off
• a test hangs up
• a test runs for much longer (for example, more than twice as long) than the expected time
You do not require a detailed understanding of each task in the sequence to diagnose system
problems. If the LEDs indicate that multiple corrective action is needed, perform the tasks in the
order listed and retest after each task until the system boots normally. If the recommended solutions
fail to correct the problem, contact Avaya Technical Support or Field Service.
Use the following table to diagnose your system.

Verifying and Modifying Boot ROM Settings
Corrective Actions for Errors
• Remove and replace the failed
memory SIMM on the TMS.
• If the error persists, remove and
replace the TMS. (Reinstall the
original SIMM on the failed TMS
and tag for logistics disposition.)
