Shutting the System Down

After Avaya personnel start your system for the first time, you rarely need to shut down or restart the
system. You can make most changes to the applications and Multimedia files while the system is in
normal operation. However, you need to shut down the MPS 500 to:
• upgrade hardware
• upgrade software
• relocate the system
Shut down the MPS
1. Start MPS Manager. Select the domain, then select the Application Manager as show in the
following diagram.
2. Select the Terminate checkbox under the Action list. This performs a soft termination by
default. Then, click Apply.
3. Wait for the Terminate/Un-Assign Lines Progress window to reach 100%.
4. log on as root.
a. From any command line enter su.
b. Enter the root password (*****).
5. Enter halt.
