1. PSSINIT initializes pSOS, the local operating system.
2. RARP - Reverse Address Resolution Protocol. Used by a device on a network to determine its IP
address.
3. BOOTP - Boot Protocol.
4. PSSINIT initializes pSOS, the local operating system.
5. TFTP - Trivial File Transfer Protocol. A limited FTP environment for the device to load image
files.

Simple System Tests

Whenever you reconfigure the system, add or replace components, or the system software is
upgraded, Avaya recommends you verify the operation of the new hardware, software, and
configuration. This section contains confidence tests that can be run offline to check end-to-end
system operation.
First, install the new or additional hardware in accordance with procedures. If you are upgrading the
software, refer to the MPS Upgrade, Installation Guide and Release Notes. Complete the
procedures and system configuration as directed in the upgrade manual.
Caution:
The following tests can involve allocating additional resources by temporarily modifying the
TMS.cfg file. Before performing any of these tests, create a backup of the current TMS.cfg file
for restoration later.

Description of Task or Error
Error downloading image.
TFTP closed (the image download is
complete.)
Jumping to downloaded application
image. Several tasks, already performed,
are repeated using the application image
instead of the boot ROM.
• Sets values specified in boot ROM
dialog, performs RARPSet values
specified in boot ROM dialog, perform
RARP2 and BOOTP3, if required.
Activity LEDs cycle when RARP and
BOOTP packets are sent.
• End of the system initialization. The
TMS is under application control.
Subsequent LED activity is unrelated to
states listed in this table.
